The Code of the City of Prairie Village, also known as the Prairie Village Municipal Code, is a collection of laws and regulations adopted by the Governing Body of the City of Prairie Village. The Code is organized in a book format utilizing Chapters, Articles, and Section titles and numbers to assist readers with navigating through the document.
In 2020, the Municipal Code was recodified by Municode to increase ease-of-use and search-ability.
While the City of Prairie Village makes every attempt to maintain and update the online Code, some ordinances may have been adopted or have become effective since the most recent online posting. The official printed copy of the Code of the City of Prairie Village is available during normal business hours in the City Clerk's Office. The City of Prairie Village shall not be liable for any errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or untimeliness of the information contained in the online version of its Municipal Code.
The City of Prairie Village has also adopted ordinances to regulate land uses within the City. The purpose of these regulations are to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Prairie Village and maintain property values throughout the community. The Zoning and Subdivision Regulations have also been developed in order to allow for the orderly development and redevelopment of properties within the City.
The City of Prairie Village utilizes the Uniform Public Offense Code and Standard Traffic Ordinance from the League of Kansas Municipalities with certain sections deleted and with additional and supplemental sections. These regulations are available by clicking on the links below:
