The City Council adopted Village Vision 2.0, the City's Comprehensive Plan, in January 2021 after a two-year update process. In the Fall of 2018, the City Council authorized city staff and the Planning Commission to begin working to update Village Vision. The original Village Vision was adopted in 2007 and contained recommendations on issues ranging from redevelopment, to land use, to parks. Many of the goals and implementation strategies outlined in the original Village Vision Plan had been accomplished, so the City prioritized updating our goals and envisioning what we would like the City to accomplish in the future.

The adopted version of Village Vision 2.0 outlines 5 important goals for the City to focus on over the next 20 years. These goals include the following:

  • Quality Public Space
  • Strong Neighborhoods
  • Viable Commercial Centers
  • Sustainability
  • Productivity

Village Vision 2.0 also includes important guidance on redevelopment of major commercial areas, design guidance for public streets and spaces, and and policy plans for land use and public spaces.
