Accident Reports
Accident reports are available online after agreeing to the terms and policy below. Online accident reports require a case number to be entered and are available at no cost. Accident reports can still be obtained in person from police records for a cost of $5.00. Contact records at 913-385-4625 with questions.
I understand that K.S.A. 45-230, as amended, provides that except to the extent otherwise authorized, "No person shall knowingly sell, give or receive, for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any property or service to persons listed therein, any list of names and addresses contained in and derived from public records."
I also understand that a violation of K.S.A. 45-230, as amended, is a Class C misdemeanor.
I hereby certify that I do not intend to, and will not: (A) Use any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed; or (B) sell, give or otherwise make available to any person any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of allowing that person to sell or offer for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed.
Non-Arrest Reports
All reports are disseminated in accordance with the Kansas Open Records Act (K.O.R.A.). The only page open to the public is the first page of the report, which is called the 'face sheet.' Information included on the face sheet is the date, time, address, reporting party and reporting officer. In Theft and Burglary cases, the face sheet contains the items listed that were stolen and is particularly helpful to victims reporting losses to insurance companies.
Arrest Reports
Arrested persons, or their attorneys, are the only persons allowed to obtain arrest reports. This includes juvenile reports as well. The charge for copies of these reports is $5.00. Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, check, or cash.
In addition, it is the policy of the Johnson County District Attorney's Office that any criminal and civil case reports routed through that office may only be disseminated through them.
