The Prairie Village Police Department is promoting an FBI-developed application called FBI Child ID – a convenient tool that quickly assists the police in locating a missing child.
Child ID allows parents to electronically store photos and other vital information about their children, such as height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc., that they can immediately access and share with police should their child become missing. This tool permits parents to quickly email pertinent information to PVPD, activating an immediate search. The app is free and available on iPhones and Androids. Those interested can also access the app using the following link: https://www.fbi.gov/news/apps/child-id-app.
The FBI nor the Prairie Village police collects or stores any photos or information entered in the app. All data resides solely on the user’s mobile device until they send it to authorities.
Prairie Village and Mission Hills residents should use ChildID@pvkansas.com when completing their child’s profile in the application but should not use the SEND notification tab until needed.
