Animal Licensing
- Animal Licensing
All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

It is unlawful in the City of Prairie Village to discriminate against individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If you believe you have been discriminated against, you may file a claim with the City Clerk’s office using this claim form. All discrimination claims must be filed with the City within 60 days of the last act of discrimination.

Community Recycling Event
Securely shred your sensitive documents and recycle your electronics responsibly at our community recycling and paper shredding event! This event provides an opportunity for residents to drop off a variety of items in one convenient location.

Cars should enter at 67th St. and Slater St. and follow signage or event volunteer instructions.

This event is for residents of the sponsoring cities: Fairway, Merriam, Mission, Mission Hills, Mission Woods, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, and Westwood. Proof of residency required (driver's license or utility bill). This event is for residents only, not businesses.
Accepted Items
Paper for Shredding
- Securely shred confidential documents for FREE.
- You can shred bank statements, tax returns, credit card receipts, and more!
- Maximum of 10 file storage boxes size 1’ x 2’.
- All binders, containers, and cardboard boxes will be returned to you.
Electronics
- Secure e-Cycle will collect electronics for responsible recycling.
- There is a CASH ONLY $25 fee for computers and $40 fee for TVs.
- Everything else with a cord is FREE.

Eyeglasses

The Shawnee Lions Club will collect eyeglasses to support the Lions Recycle for Sight Program.
