All cats and dogs, six months of age and older, must be licensed with the City. The licensing process ensures that animals have current rabies vaccinations which must be current in order to obtain an animal license. Each household is permitted to have a maximum of four pets with no more than three of one species (dog or cat). Licenses must be renewed every one, two or three years depending on the license purchased. Rabies vaccinations must be valid for the duration of the license being purchased. If an animal cannot tolerate the rabies vaccination, a letter stating the intolerance must be provided by the vet.

Get ready to celebrate the holiday season at Prairie Village Foundation's Annual Gingerbread House Decorating Party! Each year, the Foundation hosts a party to raise money for summer recreation scholarships for qualified Prairie Village families. This year's event will be from 1:30-3 p.m. December 8 at Briarwood Elementary School (5300 W 86th Street). The price is $50/house in person, with a limit of 4 people per house. This includes the pre-constructed gingerbread house, frosting, and unlimited candy decorations of your choice with no mess to clean up at home! To-go houses are also available. The price for a to-go house is $40 and includes pre-constructed gingerbread house, frosting, and pre-packed candy decorations. Pickup begins December 8; purchaser will be contacted with more details.
