Public Works Open House

A ribbon cutting and open house will be held September 13 at the newly constructed Prairie Village Public Works facility. The ribbon cutting will be held at 4:45 p.m. with the open house and tours from 5-7 p.m.

The facility at 3535 Somerset Drive has earned the highest level of certification for environmental building. The $10 million project (including the building construction, as well as utility work, site preparation, parking structures, furniture, equipment, inspections, design, etc.) achieved the highest level of LEED certification: Platinum. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely-used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly-efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership.

Residents are invited to tour the facility to see the features that helped the project earn LEED platinum during the open house.
