Three Local Artists Featured at RG Endres Gallery
Joleen Goff, Linda Nickell, and Marcia Streepy will be the featured artists at the RG Endres Gallery located at the Prairie Village City Hall, 7700 Mission Road, Prairie Village. The exhibit shall run throughout the month of May. The Prairie Village Arts Council will host a wine and cheese reception for the artists on Friday, May 11, from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Joleen Goff’s artwork evolves from an intuitive process of transforming materials - primarily paper and fabric - through dyeing, printmaking, painting, and stitching. She is very much aware of and affected by the serendipitous and structured combinations of color, texture, and pattern in the everyday world. She encourages artistic expression as an art instructor at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of art and has several permanent displays in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. Ms. Goff has earned her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Missouri, Columbia, her Master of Arts from the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, and her Bachelor of Art Education, from Wichita State University, Wichita, KS.
Linda Nickell is also a featured artist for May. Ms. Nickell uses oil and acrylic paints with mixed media, including hand painted papers she creates herself. She interprets her view of nature, whether painting in a representational style or abstracting the image. Interpretation of organic shapes, forms, textures, colors and movement of the landscape motivates her to reveal her vision to the viewer through painting and mixed media collage. Ms. Nickell resides in Leewood, KS, and has exhibited in several group and solo shows in the Kansas City and Dallas areas with many of her works being held by private collectors in a variety of cities. She is employed at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art as a programs manager in the Education Department. She has earned her degree in art education from Missouri State University, and she exhibits her work locally and nationally.
Marcia Streepy works with pastels watercolors, acrylics and oils. She has worked with figures, buildings, landscapes and still life. Ms. Streepy has been surrounded by creative fine artist all her life. She is a graduate from Marymount College, Saline KS with a BSN. She worked as an RN from 1975 until 1987. After a short time she started selling her art work and steadily became more involved with the world of fine art. She has continued her education at Kansas University, Johnson County Community College and studied with numerous nationally known artists such as Wolf Kahn, Albert Handel, Doug Dawson and Lorenzo Chaves in their workshops. Her work is in the New York art Center, Eva Reynolds Gallery in Overland Park KS, the Inter-Urban Art House Studio Space, and in many private collections. She is a member of the Mid America Pastel Society, and the Kansas City Artist Coalition. She has exhibited and won awards in various national and international juried art exhibitions.
