Voter registration deadlines

Post Date:05/31/2016 5:19 PM

Changes in election laws in recent years have brought new deadlines for registering to vote. Wednesday, June 1 at 12:00 p.m. is the deadline for current voters to change party affiliation. Individuals can check to see if they are registered to vote and what their party affiliation is by going here.

If you are registered to vote and are affiliated with a party, after noon on June 1 you will not be allowed to change that affiliation until after the August 2 primary results are certified. Kansans may register to vote or change their registration information online here with a valid Kansas driver's license or non-driver identification card. They may also make changes at their county clerk’s or election officer’s office. The Johnson County Election Office is located at 2101 East Kansas City Road, Olathe, KS 66061. For questions, please call the election office at 913-782-3441.

Individuals who are registered to vote but are “unaffiliated” are allowed to declare a party up to the August 2 primary election. Kansans who are not registered to vote have until the twenty-first day before any election to register to vote.
